Only one of the twelve disciples would betray Jesus, yet all could find reason in themselves to seek assurance that it wasn’t them. We should never take our union with Christ for granted or trust in ourselves to persevere. Rather, we should constantly examine ourselves and look to Christ to hold us in his hand.
