The exchange of Jesus for Barabbas teaches us in two ways. First, there is a challenge to us of what kind of deliverer we want; one to free us from Rome, or from ourselves? Second, he becomes an illustration of what Christ was doing on the cross, the innocent condemned that the guilty might go free.
