At the crucifixion Christ became the focal point and climax of all humanity and Hell’s hatred for and rebellion against God. He took upon himself all the shame, mockery, and punishment that our sins earned. As Christ identified himself with our shame, all who follow him must become identified with this world’s hatred for him.
