God desires for us to love and serve others and to live with integrity in the world. However, the practical application of that requires a great deal of careful, thoughtful, cautious, and prudent discernment, deliberation, preparation, and foresight. There is a time to engage with others, and a time to limit our interaction with them.  God would not have us be gullible, foolhardy, or unprepared for the harm others would bring against us or the deceitfulness of the Devil's snares.
